weekend in paradise!

I'm so incredibly excited for this weekend I can barely stand it! Julie (my roomie), Lauren, Danielle and I are all road-tripping it to Fish Creek! A weekend totally by ourselves. I guess we are always by ourselves, but it seems so much better in door county! My parent's already bought us some supplies and we're stocking up on some random necessities. We can't wait, a weekend of doing all the stuff we did at sleepovers when we were 10--mash, truth or dare, baking, swimming, chick flicks....

On a completely different note, Spanish has been taking over my life. I have Spanish every.day.of.my.life. Even after class, for the next hour, I'm trying to translate my thoughts into Spanish. It's giving me Costa Rica flashbacks. I swear, the only thing worse than poetry in English is poetry in Spanish. I can't understand it, the syllables are all weird, it's boring, and if I don't listen closely, I'll miss something. Plus, I yelled this to my friend Kimmy in Shamu today and then bumped into my professora inside the amu... fml. I'm doing service learning, where we go out in the community and volunteer. I'm at Escuela Vieau, working at an ESL program with adults who know little to no English. I never knew teaching English would be so hard! I had to laugh when someone said "I am electrical problem" instead of "I have an electrical problem." Oh, innuendos...

I'm heading for bed--I can't afford to fall asleep in Vatican II. again...

What I believe

Lately, I've really been reconsidering what I believe. I know I believe in God and the Church, but somehow I feel like I've lost my way at times. I'm reading a book right now called Being Catholic Now, and it's made me stop and really think about my own beliefs.

I believe in God.
I believe 5 flats on piano is easier than 3 sharps. I can't explain why, but it is.
I believe in kharma, and what goes around comes around.
I believe no small act of kindness goes un-noticed, even if no one says anything about it.
I believe a 2 hour lunch with one good friend is better than any party.
I believe in the sacrifice Jesus made for us.
I believe flying through the clouds is what heaven must be like.
I believe a simple kind word can mean the world to someone.
I believe everything is an opportunity.
I believe we have a responsibility to better our world.
I believe in the power of music.
I believe God does not mistakes.
I believe shit happens. I'm sorry, but it does and we are just going to have to deal with it.
I believe a hug and smile from a small child means more than any wrapped gift ever could.
I believe in Jesus Christ.
I believe that no one is perfect-- even Christ on the cross doubted God's plans for him.
I believe my family is a little crazy and that is more than fine with me.
I believe in times of struggle, God gives everyone the gift of family and friends.
I believe animals are the perfect example of unconditional love.

This is what I believe
